Mr McConnell began his calling through supporting his younger brother with his maths homework in 2005. His brother said that he was pretty good at helping him, so he put his hand to tutoring to see what others thought. So outside of his day job, he went on to tutor family and friends in their homes for the next few years. This grew into operating from one location in 2014. McConnell’s Maths was born.
Mr McConnell never had the foresight at the time to realise his company would teach English (hence the company name), but with a little convincing from great colleagues he realised English teachers can take care of that! Today, the offerings are in fact both Maths and English ☺.
McConnell’s Maths operates small group classes from school years 1-11 (ages 5-16) or 1 to 1 support, in addition to bespoke adult learning.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we stopped operating from a community centre and transferred our service online. We have been operating online since March 2020 and this reduces the restriction of parents and teachers needing to be localised to a central hub.
